Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit, such as your preferences and login status, which makes subsequent visits easier and the site more useful to you. ToneBattles uses a minimal set of cookies — only what's necessary to make the site work and to understand how people use it.
We use cookies for three purposes: keeping the site functioning properly, remembering your preferences so you don't have to re-enter them, and understanding how visitors use the site so we can improve the experience. We do not use cookies for advertising, tracking you across other websites, or selling data to third parties.
These cookies are required for core site functionality. Without them, features like voting and authentication would not work. They cannot be disabled while using ToneBattles.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | Authenticates your session with our backend (Supabase) | 1 hour |
| sb-refresh-token | Refreshes your session so you stay signed in | 7 days |
These cookies remember your choices and preferences to provide a more personalized experience. They are stored in your browser's localStorage rather than as traditional cookies.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tb_voted | Tracks which battles you've voted on to prevent duplicate votes | Persistent |
| tb_anon_id | Anonymous identifier for your votes when not signed in | Persistent |
We may use analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with ToneBattles — which pages are visited most, how people navigate the site, and where they drop off. This data is collected in aggregate and is not tied to your personal identity. Analytics help us prioritize which features to build and which battles to add.
If we implement third-party analytics in the future, we will update this policy with specific cookie names, providers, and their retention periods.
ToneBattles does not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, social media tracking widgets, or any cookie that follows you across the web. We don't show ads. We don't sell your data. Our revenue comes from affiliate links — and those do not require placing cookies on your device. When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer may set their own cookies, which are subject to their own cookie policies.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or delete cookies when you close your browser. Keep in mind that blocking essential cookies will prevent some features from working — for example, your vote history tracking relies on localStorage, so clearing it means the site won't remember that you've already voted on a battle.

If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify registered users via email.
